Ligula Hospitality Group expands in Copenhagen
Ligula Hospitality Group has signed an agreement to through share acquisitions take over Park Inn Hotel in Copenhagen. The hotel is located next to the vibrant and growing Copenhagen Airport, and has 295 rooms, meeting space and restaurants. The overtake will take place as per July 1st, 2019.
A big part of Copenhagen’s growth outside the city center takes place around the airport area, with its heavy expansion plans. Park Inn is located only two stops with the Metro from Terminal 3 at Copenhagen Airport. The real estate owner has together with Ligula decided upon an extensive renovation plan for the hotel, formerly known as SAS Hotel Globetrotter, firstly including rooms and bathrooms.
– We have had several possibilities to grow our hotel portfolio in the Copenhagen area, but not until now managed to agree upon an acquisition that feels commercially viable over time. The hotel market in Copenhagen is a rapidly growing market, and to get the chance to acquire an established and well taken care of hotel feels very good, says Uwe Löffler, CEO for Ligula Hospitality Group.
– This hotel, with its location, will be a great complement to our existing hotels in Copenhagen. It gives us therefore great synergies that improve both our position in the market, and what we can offer our guests. Says Christer Lundberg, Country Manager Denmark.
Ligula currently operates four hotels, with Copenhagen Plaza in the forefront, in the Copenhagen city center. With this being Ligula’s fifth acquisition, it strengthens Ligula’s position in the city to nearly 800 rooms in operations. The hotel market in Copenhagen has grown strong and has now an occupancy rate at historical levels. The supply of hotel rooms continues to grow rapidly, and at the same time, the city becomes an even more popular destination than before. Copenhagen is one of Northern Europe’s biggest fair and conference destinations and is a growing leisure destination.
