Halmstad, August 2025 – Ligula Hospitality Group welcomes Per Jonsson as the new General Manager of ProfilHotels Halmstad Plaza.

Hotel veteran takes the helm at Halmstad’s largest hotel

With over 20 years of experience in the hotel industry and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences, Per will lead the hotel into an exciting phase of development.

A journey that started in the kitchen

Per’s hotel journey started at the age of 13 when he cooked with his mother in a report for Hemmets Veckotidning. From that early interest in food grew a strong passion for service. At 18, he cleaned rooms at Hotel Lundia in Lund and then worked as a chef in the Navy. When he furthered his education in hotel and tourism, the path became clear.

Broad industry expertise and new challenges

Per has worked in all departments and has experience from both large and small hotels such as Strawberry, Scandic and Radisson.

For ProfilHotels Halmstad Plaza, which opened in the middle of the pandemic, Per sees clear opportunities ahead: “I want the hotel to become ‘Plaza’ with the people of Halmstad. Reaching out to companies to bring in more meetings is also a big focus area.”

Personalized service with a twinkle in the eye

Pers’ philosophy on guest experiences is characterized by personalized service: “A visit to a hotel is easily governed by standards that many chains have. Here we need to focus on the fact that our guests have different needs. Individual service and offerings are essential.”

As an example of his philosophy, Per tells of a time when a regular guest complained about his bed after the first night of two bookings: “We quickly found a new bed, changed it for night two and put a post-it note on the TV saying ‘with the wish of a good night’s sleep’.”

Vision for leadership

Per describes his role as standing in the middle of a triangle where staff, guests and owners are in the different corners: “Everyone has to be happy and then I am satisfied with my performance. I believe in being clear, committed and present.”

Local roots with great passion

Outside of work, Per is passionate about cooking and golf. Interestingly, Per’s sporting background is a perfect fit for Halmstad – he played both table tennis and volleyball at an elite level in his younger years, two sports for which the city is famous.

Future-oriented development

His focus going forward is clear: to develop visibility in the city and region through his network and personality. The goal? For every guest to leave the hotel with a ‘wow’ feeling – an experience that is shared with friends and authentically shared on social media.
