Sustainability

Ligula Hospitality Group takes active responsibility for sustainable development within the hotel and restaurant industry. Through systematic and long-term sustainability efforts, we contribute to a more sustainable society, focusing on environmental responsibility, fair working conditions, and respect for human rights in all countries where we operate. Our sustainability strategy includes concrete measures to reduce our climate impact, promote social responsibility, and create a positive impact in our local communities.

Environmental Initiatives

We continuously strive to combine a high-class guest experience with responsible environmental work. Through regular environmental evaluations, we analyze how our operations affect the environment and translate the results into concrete, sustainable measures. Here is a selection of our most important environmental initiatives:

  • We use 100% renewable and eco-labeled energy and continuously review our consumption of electricity, water, and heating.
  • We use eco-friendly cleaning products such as dishwashing and laundry detergents, only eco-labeled paper, envelopes, and packaging, and all guest amenities are Swan-labeled.
  • We are increasingly purchasing organic, locally grown food and do not serve red-listed fish.
  • Renovations require environmental certification, and we reuse furniture.
  • Our uniforms are made from recycled textiles, and business trips are primarily made by train.

Environmentally Certified Hotels

We conduct active sustainability work at our hotels in Sweden through environmental certification according to Svensk Miljöbas, a recognized standard for environmental management. Environmental certification helps us identify concrete measures to reduce our environmental impact, follow up on our efforts, and create a clear structure for our environmental work.

All our Swedish hotels and their restaurants undergo annual environmental assessments where we analyze their environmental footprint and set goals to reduce energy and resource consumption. Through both internal and external audits, we ensure that our efforts are of high quality and lead to actual change.

Environmental certification also contributes to continuous improvement through requirements for evaluation, follow-up, and improvement measures. Regular environmental meetings and audits serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and integrating sustainability issues throughout our operations. Our goal is to constantly develop our environmental work and be at the forefront of sustainability in the hotel industry.

Environmental Policy

We aim to minimize our environmental impact and believe it is important that environmental work is a natural part of daily operations. Our environmental policy defines the company’s principles for environmental work, which are clarified through goals and action plans to reduce our negative environmental impact. We work with continuous improvements in all our operations through the three guiding principles:

REDUCE · REUSE · RECYCLE

Through active environmental work where we continuously identify and evaluate environmental risks, and through continuous improvements, we both prevent and minimize our negative environmental impact. By integrating environmental aspects into all steps of our operations, we contribute to a long-term sustainable society.

We comply with all current environmental legislation and continuously monitor new requirements and regulations to ensure that our work maintains high quality and follows best practices. Through annual environmental goals and locally adapted action plans, each unit receives concrete tools to reduce its environmental impact.

To drive committed and knowledge-based environmental work, we offer ongoing training to our employees. In this way, we strengthen the entire organization’s ability to contribute to sustainable development.

In central procurements, we place high environmental demands on suppliers of raw materials, materials, and products – as a natural part of our responsible purchasing strategy.

Our vision is to contribute to a better environment for future generations with participation and commitment. With a long-term perspective, we want to help shape a more sustainable world for everyone.

Social Responsibility in the Hotel Industry

People and communities are at the heart of our sustainability work. We want to create a safe and positive working environment where our employees thrive and where all guests feel welcome.

Diversity and inclusion are important values for us – both in the teams behind the scenes and in meeting our guests. This creates an open and inclusive atmosphere with a strong sense of community. By engaging locally and taking responsibility for our impact, we contribute to thriving communities where we operate. Some of what we do:

Work Environment Policy

We continuously work to improve both the physical and psychosocial work environment for our employees. Our goal is to create working conditions that promote health, well-being, commitment, and long-term motivation in the workplace.

Our work environment efforts are based on our work environment policy and are an important part of our responsibility as an employer in the hotel and restaurant industry.

Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Policy

We advocate for gender equality and equal opportunities regardless of gender, origin, or background. All employees shall have the same right to work, employment conditions, training, and development.

Our work for a fair and inclusive work environment is governed by our gender equality and anti-discrimination policy, which ensures that we prevent discrimination and promote equal conditions throughout the organization.

Community Engagement

We are an active part of society and take responsibility beyond our own operations. Through the Ligula Foundation, we support initiatives that combat poverty and homelessness, promote children’s rights, and provide concrete aid to Ukraine.

Our community engagement is an important part of our sustainability strategy – where social responsibility is as self-evident as environmental consideration.
